Meet our new coach: Becky Briggs

I started running at the age of 9 and fell in love with the sport through both the passion for success, and the physical and mental sense of freedom that running brings. I worked my way through grass routes athletics attending local and school events until the age of 17 when I focused my training, aiming to improve as an endurance athlete.

In October 2018 I gained my first international vest competing for England over the 10km distance, I went on to gain further international vests including the European U20 5km road championships and in cross country events. I went on to compete in the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Aarhus, earning my first GB vest.

I moved to London to study at St Mary’s University, Twickenham, where I pursued my passion for the sport by studying Sport and Exercise Nutrition. I based my life in the running hub of London, training with other elite athletes in Bushy and Richmond Park. In October 2020 I competed for GB in the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships, this was my first senior GB vest, where I was the youngest competitor in the event. From this, I centred my training on the marathon distance, running in the elite start of the 2021 London Marathon, finishing 5th British female in a time of 2:34:34, which is ranked 2nd British U23 All time.

Going into the future, I aim to further my athletic career by competing internationally at the marathon distance, while sharing my love and passion for the sport by coaching others. Throughout my journey in athletics, I have experienced the rollercoaster of success and failure, the tough days, and the best days of my life, and am excited to share all I have learnt to help others achieve their goals through my pure love for running.
